It was stated that water was the
second most consumed beverage in the world. The
stats confirmed the increased trends in disease
incidence around the world. Various diseases that
did not gain prominence over 20 0r 30 years ago
are beginning to become the bane of our existence.
I will enumerate some very beneficial uses of water
and you will see why you should make water your
best companion.
Health Benefits of Drinking Water
It increases our energy and relieves fatigue
Since our brain is mostly water, drinking water
helps us to think, focus and concentrate better and
be more alert. As an added bonus, your energy
levels are also boosted. It may seem odd to you
since water contains no glucose but you can try it.
When I was in college, I played basketball
aggressively and my best days on court were days
I drank only water to the court. I was more alert,
light and full of energy. Try it!
It helps us with weight loss
Water removes by-products of fat. It is probably
the best weapon of anyone interested in losing
some weight. When you drink water before you it, it
logically reduces your food intake and aids faster
digestion. It is a natural hunger suppressant. Just
drink water before and after every meal and your
calorie intake will drop drastically and you will lose
weight.
It cleanses us of toxins
It helps in getting rid of waste through sweat and
urination which reduces the risk of kidney stones
and UTI’s (urinary tract infections). Drink a lot of
water to help in flushing your body systems.
It gives us a glowing skin
Water moisturizes your skin, keeps it fresh, soft,
glowing and smooth. Gets rid of wrinkles. It’s the
best anti-aging treatment around. I have explain
this before and a lot of research work has gotten
into proving its effectiveness.
It helps our body to maintain homeostasis
It aids in digestion as water is essential to digest
your food and prevents constipation. This makes
various nutrients readily available for the body and
maintains the normal functioning of the body.
Water boosts our immune systems
A water drinker is less likely to get sick. And who
wouldn’t rather feel healthy the majority of the
time? when you drink a lot of water you help your
body to fight diseases. There has been an extensive
research on this field to back up the theory. When
the body is healthy we will all live a purposeful life.
It helps us as an headache reliever
Water helps to relieve and prevent headaches
(migraines & back pains) which are commonly
caused by dehydration. Water helps in reducing
pressure on the nerve endings causing pain.
It also helps to prevent cramps & sprains in
our joints
Proper hydration of the body helps keep our joints
lubricated and muscles more elastic so joint pain is
less likely. It reduces the risk of arthritis so lets
encourage our old ones to also imbibe this culture.
Water puts us in a Good Mood
When the body is functioning at its best, you will
feel great and be happy. We all know this.
And finally we also save Money
Water is FREE! Even if you choose bottled/filtered
water, it’s STILL cheaper than that high sugar and
fat-filled latte. So we get to reduce our daily
spending budget, We also save money on hospital
and pharmaceutical bills.
So am advising that we just all make an habit of
drinking at least 8glasses of water daily. This is a

therapy that is free but highly rewarding.
